If I caused any shake then I typically don't like or use the file. Stabilize in Sharpen can be useful but I've only used it a few times. I find Topaz helpful for troublesome files. I didn't use it as much as I thought I would. I have DXO P元 (for Prime only) but I'm a little ticked off that DXO now so I won't be getting PL4. I don't like using 3rd party apps that much. For those high ISO photos especially, DeNoise does an excellent job, sometimes turning one of those high ISO photos into a keeper.ĭownload a demo and form your own opinion based on the kind of photography you do. I photograph wildlife mostly, and when I do, I almost always do it hand held. There are many circumstances where I have to use higher ISO than I'd like. well, let's just say that they've never moved my wallet. And that is not an easy task.Įvery time I've demo'd one of their products. Usually those type of Adobe features only work well on screen res sized images and maybe I just got lucky on my first try, but color me impressed so far. And whatever Adobe did with the new Sky Replace filter may indeed put ReMask out of business where my initial tests replacing a Los Angeles skyline loaded with trees and buildings on a 50 mp file were scarily good and automatically instant. Seems like very week there is an update to download.Ĭ'mon - an update every week or whatever doesn't mean crap if the update doesn't make the product actually work better, and in most of these updates, the products are still less effective than what you get for the price of admission with your Adobe subscription. But let me tell you how I really feel about them. I've given them plenty of chances over many years and become more disillusioned with them with each passing year. It's almost as if they don't even know how to use their own products. Topaz overpromises and under delivers with truly pathetic customer service. Takes forever and is actually worse than the newer interpolation modes in Photoshop, although the uprezzing in Iridient Developer beats them all but that's a different road to go down. I also use FocusMagic which is much better than Topaz as well. I own Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI as well and Sharpen AI is less effective than the sharpening filters you have built into Photoshop, either Unsharp Mask or Smart Sharpen. It's as if they tried to copy Ultimatte Knockout but never quite got it. The only one that I actually use is ReMask and that's a freaking mess that only sort of works. NONE of Topaz's apps live up to their hype. When it is needed, it can turn a reject into a keeper and I would not be willing to give it up. For those of you who use their apps are they as good as Topaz claims? They have quite a sale going on right now.
